1920's "Phryne Fisher" Inspired Outfit.

Season 1, Episode 1: Cocaine Blues - Phryne's First Look.
Recently I started watching this amazing TV series on Netflix called "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" and absolutely fell in love with the costume designs/styling of the lead character, Phryne Fisher. I've always loved anything set before the 40's and murder mysteries are a favourite genre of mine so this show really jelled with me. In the first episode I loved the look this post is dedicated to and have found some pieces online to get a similar inspired look. Really hope you guys enjoy, let me know if you want more of these fashion posts and I'll see what I can do!
Extra Long White Scarf: (Length of this one 5'2 - will half in size when wrapped around the neck) Phryne's Scarf in the first episode is made of thicker material, this one is made of chiffon which will make it see-through. You can achieve a look more similar to Phryne's if you just buy some white fabric from a material store/market and cut it up/sew it yourself. It may, however, be more costly. £2.99

White Tights: from ASOS reduced to £1.50. You can get white tights at Primark also which should do the trick quite nicely. You don't want really thick white tights, in fact, you want to be able to see your skin through them a bit. If you're going for a Phryne Costume, getting thicker tights give them the appearance of a more cartoon character but if you're looking to wear this on the daily (a more wearable everyday look) then I suggest getting the more see-through tights.

White Gloves: Phryne only wears these gloves when she's outside, so they're not really necessary if you don't want them but I personally love wearing gloves. You're looking for some short vintage ones, Phryne's have two buttons on the wrist to clasp the glove closed. £1.99 with shipping.

Navy pleated midi skirt£14 from Asda. Phryne's skirt stops at the knee, so you're essentially looking for a pleated navy midi skirt like this one. They're currently sold out of a few sizes so hopefully, they'll get them back in stock soon! I looked really carefully at the footage and originally I thought the skirt and top were matte but they're not, they're actually satin! This skirt from Asda and the top below aren't shiny, so while it appears less costumey it isn't true to the show or era as they wore ALOT of satin back then.

Black and White Shoes: So Phryne was wearing a T-strap shoe and I managed to find some similar but not exact from Royal Vintage. Phryne's had more of the white running up the heel and the strap was more detailed on the front but these will do the same thing! $45 but you need to add $21 for shipping if you're from the UK.

Top: This is the closest top look alike I could find. The sleeves need to be longer so they can be rolled up slightly like Phryne's and it also has the hood on the back. In the show, she has more white detailing on the top but this one has a few strips and is similar in cut and style and it's only $20.70! It also seems to match the colour of the skirt quite well.

EXTRAS: In this episode, Phryne also seems to be wearing a dark red lipstick. I use 'Diva' by Mac but any dar
k red will do. You don't want it to be too dark, however, so just use a little bit to give it the vintage 1920's look if it's a really pigmented shade like 'Diva'. This look is more vintage than modern vampy, but can be altered if that's your preferred styling! She's also wearing a navy blue hat with a white feather and blue flower attached to the side of it. She is seen without the hat in the second scene, so again it's an outdoor item of clothing and not necessary. This hat in particular is very unusual (it's not like a normal cloche hat) as it folds over in various places. This is one that I think would have to be made by hand rather than bought.

My Recipe Book.

Nandos Curry and Vegetable Chicken, Sweet Potatoes and More...

"Nandos Curry."

Ingredients:
- Uncle Ben's Pilau Rice.
- Chicken Breasts.
- Nando's Coat & Cook Medium.
- Sunflower Oil.
- Schwartz Chicken Seasoning.
This recipe is another quick and easy one.  It uses a few of the same ingredients to the "Vegetable Chicken" but instead of the Dolmio Sauce (and vegetables) we're going to use the Nando's sauce and some rice. For a single portion - just myself - I use a full packet of rice, two chicken breast fillets and one packet of the Nando's Coat & Cook Medium.

Steps:
1. Griddle your chicken breasts with some sunflower oil until they're cooked, but not overdone. You don't want dry chicken!
2. Add the chicken to a Wok and mix in the Nando's Coat & Cook Medium Sauce.
3. Start cooking the Uncle Ben's Pilau Rice in the microwave.
4. Add the Schwartz Chicken Seasoning to the Wok and then mix in the rice.
5. Serve!
Only five simple steps and you have a delicious Nando's Curry.

"Vegetable Chicken."

Ingredients:
- Dolmio (Stir In) Tomato & Basil Sauce.
- Spinach.
- Chicken breasts.
- Schwartz Chicken Seasoning (optional)
- Butter.
- Sunflower Oil.
- Mediterranean Roasted Vegetables: red onions, red pepper, green pepper, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, baby corn.
Image from: VegKitchen.

Steps:
1. Cut your chicken breasts in half and grill them with some sunflower oil until the chicken is cooked through. Make sure not to overcook the chicken.
2. Put the Dolmio (stir in) tomato & basil sauce into a Wok with some Schwartz chicken seasoning and spinach. Heat up the sauce as the chicken cooks.
3. Add some butter to the chicken and then cut it into pieces.
4. Add the cooked chicken breasts to the Dolmio Sauce to the Wok.
5. Griddle your Mediterranean Roasted Vegetables.
6. Add the Mediterranean Roasted Vegetables to the wok.
7. Serve!

This is such a quick and simple super healthy meal. You can serve it with rice or pasta. For a single portion, I use the whole container of the Dolmio sauce, three handfuls of spinach, two chicken breasts, one teaspoon of butter, a dash of sunflower oil and a whole tub of Mediterranean vegetables from the co-op. I love this recipe so much and hope you enjoy it too!

"Sweet Potatoes!"

Ingredients:
- A sack of sweet potatoes,

- Salt and pepper,
- Olive oil,
- Butter.

CRISPS.
To make these all you have to do it peel the skin from the sweet potatoes and pop those skins on a baking tray with some Olive Oil, season with salt and pepper. Cook until golden brown.

MASH POTATO.
Take your peeled potatoes and put them into a pan of boiled water. Boil them on the hob, until the potatoes are soft and squishy. Pour the water away once they're squishy and mash the soft potatoes, adding lots of butter with some salt and pepper.

CHIPS/FRIES.
Leave the skins on the sweet potato. Cut each potato in half and then cut into strips, make them as thick or as thin as you like. Sprinkle lightly with oil, then pop in the oven until they look crispy. Cover with salt and pepper and any additional seasoning.

I'm not actually a big fan of regular potatoes but if you are, you can totally just alter these recipes. Really hope you enjoyed reading these recipes and let me know if you try any of them out yourself, post pictures in the comments below!
Much love,
Alexandria.

Nanshy Marvel Blender Review.

 Follow My Makeup Instagram @Livalisonmakeup

Today I'm doing a review on the "Nanshy Marvel 4 in 1 Blending Sponge" which I purchased at IMATS but you can buy this product online with the link provided. My first thought was how soft the sponge was so I then went ahead and soaked it in water and it almost instantly expanded! I squeezed the sponge to get rid of the excess water and it stayed the same size and it was extremely soft. My foundation blended out beautifully as did my concealer and cream contour, however it does soak up the product a tiny bit but nothing major. The different shapes around the sponge allow you to blend every part of the face. For £5.95 this sponge is a steal!

Coors Ice Cave Rave Birmingham.

Birmingham "Corrs" Ice Cave Rave, Catch-up with a Friend...
Today my friend (Jess) kindly asked me out for a catch-up since I've returned home to Birmingham "Coors Ice Cave Rave!" The photo right at the top of this post was taken from the Birmingham Mail website, where if you click the link you can read their article about this amazing event. If you want to book tickets you can do so on CoorsLight. The promotional event is being held outside the Birmingham Library in Centenary Square from the 20th - 29th of May. It's completely free to attend, you just have to buy your own drinks (if you want them) which are priced between £2.00 - £6.50. Normally the idea of a cocktail made of beer would turn my stomach but it was actually amazingly good! We spent 30 minutes in the ice cave in total which was super cool in every sense of the word. Definitely, give it a try before it leaves!
